Jesus Christ died! There is an abundance of evidence to prove the fact. Directly, the soldiers knew it; they went to see, and He was dead already; the centurion also knew it; John knew it, “and he bare record and his record is true;” Joseph of Arimathaea knew it, for he besought Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus; Nicodemus knew it, for he brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, and helped Joseph remove the body from the cross. Indirectly, Pilate also knew it, and he marvelled that He had died so soon.

Certainly He died. Yes! But He also lives!! There is a superabundance of evidence to prove this fact. Mary Magdalene saw Him; James saw Him; the other ten apostles saw Him; Cleopas and his wife saw Him; over five hundred brethren saw Him all at the same time. No fact of history is better attested than the resurrection of Christ.

He lives! He lives in the power of an endless life! He sits on the right hand of God, and He dwells in the hearts of thousands of men and women. Heaven and earth alike, with jubilant proclamation declare that Jesus lives.

This month’s devotional article, by Thomas Wilkie, warms and cheers our hearts as it reminds us of the ministry of our risen Lord, Whose advocacy and abundance meet our need. David Leathem’s article also directs us to the exalted Christ, and of the sum, this he has written, “We have such an High Priest, Who is set on the right hand of the throne of The Majesty in the heavens” (Heb. 8:1).

The lambs of the flock and older sheep of Christ’s pasture will find words of warm comfort and wise counsel in the article, “Youth and the Risen Christ.”

Those who have read other articles by Donald Norbie will appreciate Part I of his excellent word study. As one ponders his manuscript, he is constrained to say with the Bride, “Thy Name is as ointment poured forth.”

It is admitted by every honest scholar that in a study of the Book of the Revelation, there is no room for dogmatism. While the extreme and intolerant attitude manifested by some teachers of prophecy cannot be commended, the gracious letter appearing in The Forum is submitted to all who would value a thoughtful contribution to the exposition of this interesting and difficult book in the New Testament.
