Joshua 12

The final six verses tell us of the conquests of Moses.

Verses 7-24 describe the conquests of Joshua. The conquests of Moses were in the wilderness. The conquests of Joshua were in the land.

God wanted the Israelites to possess all the land.

See Joshua 1:2-4.

There was a vast difference between what God had promised them and what they actually possessed. Never in all their history have the Jews achieved God’s intention—but they will one day.

Describe them in the past.

Now having said that relative to the Jews’ failure, are we guiltless in this respect? What the land was to Israel, Christ is to us.

Mapped out on the pages of our Bible is all the territory regarding Him which we are to possess. We have failed, too. “The things which were written aforetime were written for our learning, etc.”
