Song of Solomon 1:4
“
Draw me away!”
“We will run after you”
“The King has brought me into His
chambers….”
“
Draw me away!”
The fragrance of who He is, is poured forth,
and it draws us to Him. Like the perfume of the rose or the lilac bush draws you
to it, that you might drink in the satisfying aroma, so the fragrance of the
character and person of our Lord creates with in our hearts a desire for Him.
It becomes the deep
longing of the soul to be near Him, to enjoy His presence.
“The Lord has appeared of old to me saying,
“Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love therefore with loving-kindness
I have drawn you…””
Jeremiah 31:3
With the cords of His love He has drawn us to Himself.
(Hosea 11:4.)
It is the yearning of the heart of this Shulamite woman, who
is in deep love, to be “drawn away” by Him, to His magnificent presence.
She longs to be lead away from the
occupation of the ordinary, mundane things of life, to occupation with Him, the
desire of her heart.
Is it the yearning of our hearts today to be “Drawn
away”?
Do we wake in the morning with a
deep longing in our hearts for the lover of our soul?
Does our heart go out to Him as we occupy ourselves with the
fragrance of His person.
“Occupied with
thee Lord Jesus I would be…”
“
The King has brought
me into his chambers…”
The reward
of a heart that pants after Him.
To be
lead by the savior Himself into “
His
chambers.”
“
In His presence is fullness of Joy…”
(Psalm 16:11)
The desire for intimacy of relationship with the Lord of
Glory, Seek it.
“Seek me and you will
find me if you seek me with all your heart.”
“I come to the garden alone, while the dew is still on the
roses. And the voice I hear falling on my ear, the Son of God discloses.
And He walks with me, and He talks with me,
and He tells me I am His own.
And the
joy we share as we tarry there, none other has ever known.”
