Many missionaries today are convinced that the objective of Dr. Carey in India was sound, and that his method should become their own. Dr. Carey firmly believed that his work was to prepare and direct native preachers and teachers to propagate Christianity among their own peoples. He was persuaded that the native preacher had more acceptance and more influence with nationals than did the foreign missionary.
