QUEBEC, CANADA: This entire nation is thankful for the safe arrival of Her Majesty the Queen. Fervently and devoutly all pray, “God save the Queen.”

Great preparation was made for the official opening by Queen Elizabeth and President Eisenhower of the St. Lawrence Seaway. The anticipation of this event stirred many hearts. Thousands were present to welcome and to see both Her Gracious Majesty and the Illustrious President.

How grateful our nations ought to be for the exemplary lives and the high and noble standards of these eminent personages.

When David, king of Israel, was in exile, the question was raised, “Why speak ye not a word of bringing the king back?”

Does not the much arrangement and expenditure in brinking back an earthly monarch rebuke those who are subjects of the Kingdom of God? We might well challenge ourselves as to our attitude and effort in hastening the return of our Lord Sovereign, Jesus Christ.

TORONTO, ONTARIO: The committee Food for the Flock met at Central Hall on June 6. Brethren from throughout the Eastern States and Canada spent time in prayer, and counselled together in order that the magazine they publish be better organized and better equipped to meet the need for a well-balanced ministry among the people of God. Their magazine is dedicated to sound expository and doctrinal teaching which lead to separation from all aspects of the world, and induce loyalty to Christ. Moreover, it is dedicated to repudiate the spirit of disintegration among the assemblies and foster an interassembly fellowship according to New Testament principles.

GALT, ONTARIO: Many Christians enjoyed the warmth of fellowship and the stimulant of good ministry at the annual conference here.

Some brief notes of addresses given by various speakers have been sent. These notes may refresh the memory of some, and may provoke further thinking upon the part of others.

The Presence Of Christ With His People

“Jesus Himself drew near and went with them” (Luke 24:15). The Divine Presence meant protection (Psa. 23: 15), joy (Psa. 16:11), assurance. Christ opened for them the Scriptures and their understanding, consequently, their doubts disappeared. Furthermore, His Presence meant unity, two hearts were blended into one (V. 32). His Presence, likewise, turned their home into a sanctuary.

—Thomas Wilkie.

The Face Of The Lord

Christ’s face was steadfast in His mission (Isa. 50:7), marred in His death (Isa. 52:14), and became shining in His glory (Matt. 17:2).

—John Spreeman.
