THE SUFFERING SAVIOUR, Meditations on the Last Days of Christ. F. W. Krummacher. Moody Press, Chicago, 1947. 440 pp.
One of the Wycliffe Series of Christian Classics, this splendid volume of spiritual meditations cannot fail to inspire the believing heart with a fresh and lively devotion to the Man of Sorrows, the Suffering Saviour. In the first part of the volume, the author takes the reader through “The Outer Court”, beginning with “The Announcement” (“Behold the Lamb of God”), and culminating with “The Converse by the Way” to Gethsemane. Then, in “The Holy Place”, the coldest heart must warm and melt with awe and bow in reverent worship in the presence of the Saviour Who suffered so much at the hands of His creatures as well as of His God.

THE EVIDENCE OF THE RESURRECTION. J. N. D. Anderson. Inter-Varsity Fellowship, 39 Bedford Sq., London, W.C. 1, England, 1950. 16 pp.
Here is a brief but scholarly treatise on a subject too little understood and too seldom emphasized amongst Christians today. After first describing the scriptural documentary evidence, the author then proceeds to demonstrate the futility of various human and naturalistic explanations of the empty tomb and the resurrection story. In conclusion, he summarizes the evidence still to be observed in the world today. Both this and the preceding booklet by Dr. Smith make excellent reading especially for senior high school and university students.
