Preface

One of the characteristics of the last days is the abounding iniquity of the wicked. The effect of this iniquity on the people of God is to make their love wax cold. “Because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.”

When love to Christ should be warmest it is liable to be coldest. Just before we meet the Lord in the air it seems to be easiest to forget Him. How sad if love should fail so soon before the marriage supper of the Lamb!

The meditations contained in this book are written to warm the hearts of the people of God in view of our Lord’s return. These messages on the person of our Lord Jesus Christ are the fruit of years of exercise on this most absorbing theme. They are not cleverly written but they breathe the spirit of the writer; it is hoped they will lead the spirits of the readers to adoration and worship of Him who is the grand subject of all Scripture.

Those whose faith and love are strengthened by reading this book would do well to put it into the hands of others who need another vision of Him who is “altogether lovely.”
