Memorial Day 2020

Once a year America salutes the memory of those who fell in battle to defend freedom, liberty, and justice. Flags and flowers are placed beside graves, and gratitude graces the gravity of the ultimate sacrifice of her sons and daughters. The great wheels of industry grind to a halt, and with all the solemnity owed to sacrifice, again, America bows its head beneath God’s Amazing Grace. In recent years, the words in the Pledge of Allegiance “One Nation, Under God” has become controversial and divisive. Some want the very word “God” expunged from our currency and legal contracts. Memorial Day marks the value and gives meaning to the sanctity of life beneath the belief in a benevolent Creator who gave us our unalienable rights. Yes, America is unique as a Nation among nations. I can almost hear the drumbeats and footsteps of marching columns of the courageous defenders of good, and imagine the flickering campfires of a hundred circling camps glowing in the darkness, as lights and beacons of hope even during these difficult times. We are grateful. Yes, God bless America!  -id

In the beauty of the lilies, Christ was born across the sea

With a glory in His bosom that transfigures you and me

As He died to make men holy, let us live to make men free

While God is marching on

Glory, glory, Hallelujah! Glory, glory, Hallelujah!

Glory, glory, Hallelujah! His truth is marching on!

(the Battle Hymn of the Republic)
