Ray was born September 1, 1920 in Muskegon, Michigan to Niley and Lillian (Hibbard) Routley. He married Laura S. Orloff August 26, 1944 in Oak Creek, Wisconsin. He was a WW II South Pacific Veteran, serving with the U.S. Army Air Corps.
At ten years of age, Ray trusted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior.
He loved the word of God and invested his life ministering to young people and adults. Ray worked in aviation for twenty years until the Lord directed him to serve as director of Lake Geneva Youth Camp, Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, a Christian Youth Camp Ministry.Following Lake Geneva, Ray ministered the gospel at assemblies and Christian camps throughout the United States.
He served as a beloved undershepherd of the Lord Jesus at Harrison Gospel Chapel (now High Point Bible Chapel) Davenport, and Oak Ridge Bible Chapel, Milan. Ray never retired until the Lord called him to a better rest with Christ.
