The
righteousness of the Pharisees
we’re told we must exceed
but how can we then hope to please
or dream we can succeed
In pleasing such a Holy God
or climb so high a hill
or satisfy a law and rod
that will all sinners kill?
The only hope, a single one
meet all of God’s commands
Jesus Christ God’s only Son
fulfills all God’s demands
He alone our righteousness
His work forever done
He alone can save and bless
and we pray His Kingdom come
