Many scientists and professors speak of “evolution” as if it
were scientific fact. This is far from the truth. They tell us that the universe is the
result of a “big bang,” but they never explain where the explosive materials
came from! When they tell us such things they are no longer speaking as scientists, but as
philosophers. They “believe” this is how things came into existence, but they
cannot prove it by scientific means, since science is based on that which is observable
and repeatable.
Is it reasonable to believe that the orderly universe is the result of
a chaotic event such as a “big bang”? Would we believe that the Webster
Dictionary is the result of an explosion at a printing plant? Would we believe a complex
watch is the result of an explosion at a watch factory? Of course not! Why then would we
believe that an orderly universe is the result of a “big bang”?
Where in nature does a lower order of life produce a higher one?
Science itself teaches us that things in this universe deteriorate with time, not improve.
Why then would we believe that an ape evolved into a man?
The fossil chain, which men say proves evolution, has huge gaps in it.
These gaps are filled with man’s “assumptions,” which are far from
scientific fact. In other words it takes “faith” to believe in evolution! One
has to believe a report about that which he cannot see or prove scientifically—this
is faith!
Is the theory of evolution worthy of such faith? A number of scientists
are starting to say that evolution is not worthy of such faith. It is simply not
believable.
Why then do men believe in evolution. The answer is simple—it
discredits the Bible and eliminates God! With God eliminated man is only responsible to
himself. He is free to live as he pleases, and there is no penalty for his sin. The Bible
responds to this thinking when it says, “The fool hath said in his heart, There is no
God.” (Psalm 53:1)
The Bible tells us that God created the heaven and the earth. (Genesis
1:1) This too requires faith, but the Bible is a firm foundation for our faith. It has
been one hundred percent accurate in its many predictions. It was written by over 40
authors, most of whom did not know each other, and yet it forms one unified story. It has
sold more copies than any book in history. It has changed more lives than any book in
history! It is believable!
The truth is that man is responsible to his Creator, and that man has
failed in this responsibility. The Bible says, “All have sinned.” It also tells
us that the penalty for sin is death and eternal separation from God.
However, the Bible also contains good news. It tells us that God, Who
cannot and will not overlook our sins, has sent His Son into this world to pay the penalty
of our sins. Since Christ was without sin He could die in our place. If we acknowledge our
sin against God, and accept the provision He has made through His Son’s death on the
cross, He will forgive our sins and give us eternal life.
Who will you believe? An infinite God or finite man? Don’t let
evolution make a monkey out of you! Your eternal destiny is at stake!
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son,
that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John
3:16)
