All the Scriptures

“Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that
the prophets have spoken: … And beginning at Moses and all the
prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things
concerning himself.” Luke 24:25–27

Apparently the disciples were selective in their focus on the
Scriptures. They, like most in Israel, had focused only on those
Scriptures which spoke of the Messiah coming in great glory and power
to establish His kingdom. Thus when Christ was crucified their hopes
were dashed.

Christ draws near and ministers to them from all the prophets, and all
the Scriptures the things concerning Himself. He asked, “Ought not
Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory?”
Prophecy had foretold the sufferings of the Messiah, and they should
have known this from the Scriptures. (And from Christ’s own teaching.
Matt. 16:21) How important it is that we preach Christ from all the
Scriptures, showing Him to be both the Redeemer of lost humanity and
the coming Ruler.
