“And when they were come into the house, they … fell down, and
worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they
presented unto him gifts….” Matt. 2:11
There are great lessons for us here concerning worship. First, is the
position of worship—they “fell down.” Second is the Person of
worship—they “worshipped Him.” Thirdly, the product of worship—they
“opened their treasures.”
Treasures are “the place in which good and precious things are
collected.” How we need to collect our treasures concerning Christ
prior to coming to worship? Certainly, their worship went beyond
“thanksgiving.” They were taken up with Him! His glory (gold),
His beauties (frankincense), and His sacrifice (myrrh). Let’s collect
our precious thoughts concerning Him and then come in humility and give
our gifts of worship from our opened treasures.
