The Deity of Christ

Christ is called God…

By the apostle John in John 1:1 - “And the Word was God.”

By Thomas in John 20:18 - “My Lord and my God.”

By God, the Father, in Hebrews 1:8 - “Thy throne, O god, is forever and ever”

The Lord himself claimed to be God in that he was with the Father before creation.

John 17:8 “Now glorify me together with thyself, Father, with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.”

He received worship, and only God is to be worshipped.

Matthew 14:35 - “Those who were in the boat worshipped him, saying, ‘you are certainly God’s son.”

He forgives sins.

Mark 2:5-11 “Only God can forgive sin”

He is the creator and maker of all things.

Colossians 1:16 “For by him all things were created in heaven, on earth, visible, invisible, thrones, dominions, rulers, authorities, all things were created by him and for him.”

He is the sustainer of all things.

Hebrews 1:3 “He upholds all things by the word of his power.”

He walked on the blue water of Galilee. The winds and the water obeyed His command. He healed the sick, raised the dead, and gave sight to the blind and hearing to the deaf. He cast out demons and made the lame to walk. He turned water into wine, and fed five thousand with a little boy’s lunch.
